“Great, job! They did great with our move.”
I’m Danny Ferrer, and I started Preferred Moving Company in 2011. I grew up in Miami-Dade wrestling sofas out of Brickell condo towers, and I watched neighbors get nickeled to death on an open hourly clock. So I flipped it: you get a binding flat number on paper, in English or Spanish, and only then does my crew touch a box.
Matching the crew to the move
A studio near Little Havana or a one-bedroom in Doral moves quick with two of my movers. Bring in a Coral Gables single-family with a real staircase, or a Brickell high-rise that meters the elevator, and I add a third so we finish before the afternoon storm rolls in. Andre Beaumont runs our high-rise COI jobs; Marcus Delgado takes the Gables and Kendall houses.
| Crew | Hourly | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| 2 movers + truck | $155/hr | Studios, 1BR condos, small Doral units |
| 3 movers + truck | $205/hr | Houses, staircases, 3BR and larger |
Se habla espanol. There’s a one-hour minimum and then we clock straight time. The blankets, dollies, and shrink-wrap? Those come standard inside the hourly rate, and a Sunday costs you exactly what a Monday would.
Where our written flat rates tend to settle
Before Yesenia hands you a signed number, she walks through your address, floor, and building access. Once that’s done, here’s the range most Miami-Dade jobs fall into:
| The job | Written flat rate |
|---|---|
| Brickell high-rise studio or 1BR condo | $470 – $640 |
| 2BR single-level in Kendall or Doral | $730 – $995 |
| 3BR Coral Gables home, real staircase | $1,120 – $1,520 |
| 4BR estate in Pinecrest or Miami Lakes | $1,610 – $2,180 |
| Added stop at a storage unit | +$130 – $210 flat |
The buildings and blocks we already know
Brickell and Aventura are wall-to-wall condo towers where management wants a certificate of insurance on file and the dock booked before your truck arrives. Head south on US-1 and it flips to Pinecrest estates and Cutler Bay ranch homes with long driveways; head into Little Havana and Allapattah and you hit older houses with porches and tight side yards. Across Miami-Dade that usually means:
- Brickell, Downtown, and Aventura high-rise condos with COI, freight elevators, and posted dock windows
- Coral Gables and Pinecrest single-family homes, older layouts and estate lots
- Doral and Miami Lakes new-construction subdivisions with garages and wide drives
- Little Havana, Allapattah, and Homestead older homes off narrow streets
Planned around Miami’s sky
June through November the crew watches the tropics; if a hurricane watch hits your date, we call to move it up or push it rather than load into a squall. Summer downpours we just schedule around. Want a number now? The moving calculator delivers one fast. Crossing a state line? See long-distance moving. Handing keys to a condo board? Our apartment & condo team handles the COI, and the home page introduces the crew.
